  36. Has anyone used both the MFJ-1270 and the BayCom TNCs? I'd like to
  37. know the difference in features. What one has that the other does
  38. not. General info to help me decide which to buy. BayCom is much
  39. cheaper but I don't know much else. Thanks.

  93. Yes it does depend on the radio.  Packet operation below 10 meters is 
  94. typically 300 baud.  10 can have up 10 1200 baud.  9600 bps is permitted 
  95. above 50 MHZ, although most operation in the VHF bands is at 1200 baud.  
  96. For 9600 (and faster)  the microphone and speaker connections of the radio 
  97. are NOT use, but you must wire directly to the modulated stage and 
  98. discriminator.

  103. Yes, but with a good (external) antenna, not the 'rubber ducky'.

  108. It would certainly help.  Not only do you need to hear any station you want to 
  109. connect to, but they need to hear you as well.
